Our History...

Living Water Ministries of Waldorf (formerly Greater Saint John Church of Waldorf) began as a vision given to Bishop Kevin V. Gresham, Sr. of the Greater Saint John Church in Upper Marlboro, MD. Accompanied by his wife, Elder Corine; his son, Elder Darius; daughter-in-law, Tanisha, and granddaughter, Trinity; Pastor Merritt journeyed to the Waldorf, Maryland community in the summer of 2004 in search of a location to hold services. Under the unction of the Holy Spirit, seven disciples were led by the Holy Spirit to unite with Pastor Merritt in the Waldorf endeavor:  Minister Barbara Battle, Deacon David Battle, Deborah Nelson, Renee Carr, Tyrone Carr, Antoinette Carr, and Roszita Saunders.

Worship services and Bible Study were held at William B. Wade Elementary School in Waldorf, Maryland for nearly six months. There were thirteen disciples present at the first worship service held on September 19, 2004, at the William B. Wade Elementary School in Waldorf, Maryland. Sylvia Hackney was led to play the keyboard and Michael Hackney was led to play the drums for our worship services.  Deborah Nelson and Renee Carr were ordained as Deaconess, and Tyrone Carr was appointed as Deacon-in-Training in October 2004. Sylvia Hackney and Deacon Edward Hackney were the first disciples to receive the right-hand of fellowship at Greater Saint John Church of Waldorf.

In January 2005, Greater Saint John Church of Waldorf was incorporated in the State of Maryland. On March 20, 2005, the first worship and installation service was held at our first leased facility, which was remodeled with in-kind contributions for the construction. Also, disciples of Greater Saint John Church of Waldorf donated and sponsored the purchase of  many of the furnishings at our first facility.

In July 2006, the church joined the fellowship of Greater Destiny Assemblies International, and in the same month our Articles of Incorporation were amended to change the name of the church to Living Water Ministries of Waldorf.

In December 2007, the Living Water Ministries of Waldorf family moved to our current new tabernacle. God has blessed us tremendously with growth and vitality. We have experienced increase in discipleship as well as growth in ministries. We give all the praise, honor, and glory to the all Powerful God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!

I extend my sincere thank you to all disciples and friends of the Living Water Ministries of Waldorf family for your support of the mission of the church.
